Check Out Clarence Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarence Moore.

Hi Clarence, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been passionate about art and tattooing as a whole for a vast majority of my life. I started my journey of becoming a tattoo artist when I was 8, consistently drawing and making sure I always had paper and pencils. My earliest memories consist of creating pictures with my mom and trying to find out different ways to draw the same thing over and over. Art has always been encouraged by my parents and peers so it’s been a constant fight to get myself better continuously. I completed my tattoo apprenticeship over 2023 and earned my license in early 2024. Since the beginning of my journey I’ve had nothing but endless support to push me past my limits and I have my mentor, clients and family to thank for my current position in this amazing field of expression. My tattoo name is Mo Tats, Mo coming from my last name Moore.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of my biggest struggles were initially leaving my comfort zone to begin my apprenticeship. Definitely one of the most difficult processes I’ve had to overcome is not being able to do as I wish while I learn how to properly go about tattooing skin. It took me three attempts to finally be accepted into my apprenticeship, but even through those failures I continued to outdo my previous attempts to claim my spot within the tattoo industry.

Things were also a big shock to me when I had to get over how needles hurt people, definitely an important lesson I’d have to move past. In order to give my canvases the designs and colors they desire, I have to give all of my time and attention to each line and stroke of the tattoo. Remembering that people sign up for the pain is helpful but as long as you don’t overwork the skin you’ll be a super effective tattooist.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in the surrealism style, mostly focused on color tattoos. I enjoy doing color pieces for people with black/brown skin. As there needs to be more representation in the field where we’re told you’re “too dark” for anything but black or red, my journey is to fulfill as many visions on skin as I can with the full spectrum of color! As a beginner in this field I’m always practicing new techniques and studying the color spectrum to find the best combination of color for each client regardless of skintone. I believe tattoos are one of the only universal art forms that will remain timeless and only grow with more love and patience. As an artist I appreciate every one of my clients and their trust in my ability to give them the tattoo they want to keep for the rest of their lives. All the blood sweat and tears I put into learning the basics at Dreamsforefilled Tattoo School paved the way for me, in the way that I needed to become the artist I’ve always dreamed of becoming. I’m excited to continue creating for people around the globe and love every second of my work.
