Meet Mamie Brown of Tucker Brown in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mamie Brown.

Mamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My dad opened Tucker Brown in 1986 in Lubbock, TX. I was raised in the backroom playing dress up, waiting on customers, and learning what inventory is. He has pop-ups in Aspen, CO and other ski towns in New Mexico. He moved to Fort Worth five years ago and asked me to come to be apart of it. I had been working in the fashion industry as a sales rep and running marketing for high-end brands. I moved to Fort Worth and since then, we have loved being apart of the Fort Worth community while also growing our online and social media presence.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been smooth sailing over the last 30 years! The biggest challenge has been how to transfer our brick and mortar experience to an online space. The internet has saturated the market and created competition that spans the globe. We do our best to continue to bring life from that little store in 1986 to everything we do.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tucker Brown – what should we know?
We are a women’s boutique that specializes in catering to women on the go. We carry affordable and quality pieces that allow women to go from yoga to the grocery store to the office in the same fashionable top. I’m the proudest of how we have been able to transition with the times. Fashion and style are not the same as they were ten years ago – and we’ve had the ability to change our model as we go! I believe what sets us apart is our respect and love for our customers. While we love to make sales – that’s not the end goal. We want every person that buys something to love what they purchase. We firmly believe that if you don’t love it in the store – you won’t love it when you get home, and we would rather help you find something that fits your lifestyle and your fashion sense!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My dad started Tucker Brown in 1986 and is still and integral part of the company today. He is involved in every aspect while still giving me the space to pivot the company to the new generation of shoppers. And we wouldn’t be anything without our customers. We have women who have been shopping with us for decades. They respond to our emails with encouraging words. They are always bringing in new faces and singing our praises. We owe them 30+ years of business!
